Watch the trailer for Steve Aoki’s revealing new Netflix documentary

Not content with being a DJ, producer, label head, entrepreneur and connoisseur of baked goods, Steve Aoki is now coming for your TV screen.

Today Netflix have announced that they’ll soon release I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead, a brand new feature-length documentary about the EDM superstar. They’re selling it as a “heart-pumping yet heart-wrenching” look at Aoki’s life, with production credits from the team behind the critically acclaimed documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi.

I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead was shot over the course of three years – during the making of Aoki’s double album Neon Future – and hones in on the superstar DJ’s crazy schedule as well as his complex relationship with his father Rocky Aoki, who founded the hugely-successful American restaurant chain Benihana. As Diplo assesses: “I think he’s motivated by whatever insane passion his father had, because his father seemed like an insane person too.”

Wesley Pentz isn’t the only A-lister to look out for in the documentary. Dance names like Tiesto, Afrojack, Laidback Luke and Pete Tong all make appearances, as do Blink 182’s Travis Barker, Steve’s supermodel sister Devon Aoki and his Born To Get Wild collaborator

I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead will be available to watch on Netflix from August 19 – watch the trailer below.
