Listen: Drake features James Blake on his latest summer jam, ‘0-100’

He started from the bottom – and now Drake is poised to take over the radio airwaves once again with his latest single 0 to 100, which sees musical worlds colliding once again as Drizzy drops in a sample of English auteur James Blake.

The Toronto rapper has been going full-throttle lately, stringing together sold-out performances worldwide with news of his hosting the annual ESPY Awards and (lint-free) appearances at NBA play-off games. Ultimately, home is where his studio is, and it looks like he’s created another catchphrase to last us for the rest of 2014.

Co-produced by Boi-1da, 40 and Nineteen85, 0-100 gives Drake another platform to show off his latest exploits and cocksure flow as he raps about his work-hard-play-harder lifestyle. The second half of the track, however, is where things get interesting. The music dials down to a serene ebb-and-flow of sound as a sample of James Blake’s trademark vocals warble in and out of focus for the song’s remainder.

While it’s a first for the artists to be on a track together in this capacity, it’s not the first time the two have crossed paths. Last year, Blake worked his magic on Drake’s Come Thru, and in 2011 their work was mashed-up for a mixtape all-too-appropriately titled James Drake. Listen to the single below.
