Brisbane’s The Met reborn with Carl Cox, Crookers and more

A recent change of ownership for perennial Fortitude Valley venue The Met spells good news for dance fans – the next few months will see some big names hitting Brisbane. ‘The Met Reborn’ promises, “A new chapter in Brisbane nightlife… a visual extravaganza celebrating the beautiful, bizarre, strange and unique world of carnival cirque,” and they’re kicking things off with Italian electro stallion Crookers and locals Peking Duk on Saturday October 12.

Even more exciting, though, is the news that the titan of techno Carl Cox will be coming back to Brisbane for his first club set in a long time, gracing the decks at The Met for three hours on Friday November 22. Coxy has already been announced for two Sydney dates in late October – a sold-out boat party and an after-party at the Metro Theatre. Besides Sydney and Brisbane, there’s been no news of other Australian dates announced as yet.

The new-look Met has also launched a new Friday night dedicated to deep and underground house, Rekidz, with Berlin’s Claptone kicking things off at the launch party next Friday September 20, and Hamburg’s disco/house duo Adana Twins following up on Friday September 27. The new management team are promising big announcements of more than 50 international acts over the coming weeks so stay tuned.
