Above & Beyond share their own Faithless remix

Pioneering dance group Faithless is back on the road this year to celebrate its 20th anniversary, playing a string of festival dates across Europe and preparing for the September release of Faithless 2.0, a remix album of classic Faithless tracks that have been reworked by luminaries like Tiesto, Eric Prydz, Armin van Buuren and Booka Shade.

Last month we got the first (disappointing) taste of the upcoming remix album – an edit of the indelible 1995 classic Insomnia by Swedish chart-troubler Avicii – and the internet responded with a resounding nope. Happily, the second taste of the remix project has now arrived, and it makes a much better case for its existence.

Stalwart British prog trance group Above & Beyond have tackled the first ever Faithless single, the epic orchestral journey Salva Mea, and they’ve done a damn fine job of it, working the shiver-inducing original rave synth progressions around a tense, driving beat and low-end bassline. Give the epic reworking a listen below, and pick up a copy from iTunes when it drops on Friday 21 August.

Over the next few months, the legendary Faithless will play live shows at arenas across the UK, Belgium and Netherlands; fingers crossed they announce an Australian visit for 2016. Meanwhile, Above & Beyond will be here next month for their two biggest Australian shows ever, playing Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Friday 25 September and Allphones Arena in Sydney on Saturday 26 September – more on that here.
