A bunch of artists just got ruled out for Splendour in the Grass 2017

If you were hoping to see Frank Ocean, Solange or Bjork at this year’s Splendour in the Grass, we’re sorry to say it doesn’t look likely.

Los Angeles event FYF Fest – which happens on the same weekend as Splendour, some 11,577 kilometres away – have announced their 2017 line-up, ruling out a bunch of acts you might have been hoping to see in Byron Bay. Missy Elliot, Nine Inch Nails, Nicolas Jaar, Flying Lotus, Anderson .Paak and MGMT are also on the FYF bill.

As triple j report, acts like Lana Del Rey, The Weeknd, London Grammar and Alison Wonderland also have conflicting gigs booked in for the weekend of Splendour in the Grass.

The good news is that a stack of the heavy-hitters on the Fuji Rock line-up – the Japanese festival that often shares acts with Splendour – are still in contention. Lorde, LCD Soundsystem, Major Lazer, The xx and Aphex Twin are still wide open the weekend of SITG.

Bonobo fans can pretty much count the Ninja Tune recruit in for the Byron festival, with the UK producer having already announced a New Zealand show for the same week as Splendour.

We still don’t know exactly when Splendour will reveal their 2017 line-up, but it will likely be some time in April. This year’s festival goes down from July 21 – 23 at the North Byron Parklands.
